Scouting and Blood Donation

Scouting and Blood Donation

Goal

Providing blood and its components for those in need, during accidents and catastrophes.

Location

In 26 Governorates, in Cooperation with the Blood Banks which follow the Ministry of Health

Achievements

•Organizing blood donation Campaigns by scouts in coordination committees during gatherings and camps around the year

•Donating Blood at Nasser's institute hospital in response for the Palestinian revolution (entefada).

•Organizing blood donation campaigns in all scout camps and gatherings in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent Association and the national cancer institute

•Scouting and blood donation day" is dedicated every year for blood donation in all governorates by all scouts and girl guides.

 

Scouting and Female Circumcision

This project was held with co-operation with the National Center for NGO support.

This project reached the following points:

  • Establishing a youth clinic concerning treatment of complications of female circumcision.
  • When displaying these problems a suitable scientific way must be used to show the treatment of all problems facing girl concerning menstrual irregularities & teenagers’ problems.
  • This project was to be held in 3 areas in Cairo by 3 civil societies under specialized medical supervision and referring emergency cases to specialized hospitals.
  • Encouraging social researches in this field, with displaying he project on the general level to combat shyness of girls.
  • Documentary studies about complications of female circumcision and libraries are necessarily prepared.
  • Introducing this subject in the curriculum of ministry of education.
  • Co-operation from the Ministry of Health & the Ministry of Education are needed.
Scouting and Traffic Regulation


The Federation of scouts and girl guides was interested in training of its members in traffic rules and insuring safety of streets and roads.
When a scout or a girl guide becomes 15 years old, he/she could help to fulfill their duty towards community by helping traffic men in their job and gaining experience of organizing and controlling traffic.


Scouting and life Guarding
  • In a unique experience for life guarding, the governor of Alexandria, Mr. Mohamed Abd-El Slam Mahgoub, invited the specialized companies to carry out the project during the summer of year 2000.
  • 30 Rover scouts were trained for the job and they were divided into two shifts, eight hours daily.
Scouting and African Females Refugees and Local Migrants

This project was held in co-operation with the world organization for girl guides, UNAER & UNFPA

Goals:
  • Involving refugees from African countries in the scout activity.
  • Pushing residents of unplanned areas in this project as being refugees from their original residency.
  • Sharing in some scout activities with some practical visits.
500 youth have benefited form this project.
